Capital Coffee: Heart Of Bullets by Nikhil Kushwaha!

Here’s my take on Heart of Bullets by Nikhil Kushwaha (A Petal Publication)

Blurb

‘The only way to get close to those glittering stars in heaven is, to look at a soldier with stars on his shoulders’ Every time, they’re around, the thing that we see is the bravery awards, medals, the pride, but what we can’t see is their heart that lies inside the iron chest, some untold stories, sacrifices, and the hardship they’ve been through. Every soldier has a story that is unique and extra ordinary.

A tale of brotherhood & heroism, a tale of love & betrayal, ‘Heart of Bullets’, is about two best friends, Arpan & Sam, and the untold story of their friendship, untold story of their love, Shradha, but what happens when Sam gets hit by the enemy – across the border?

What will Arpan do to save his friend? Will love prevail over friendship of lifetime?

There is a decision to be made, is the life without love, and friends, better than dying to save the one we love the most?

Review

At first glance, the cover page and title look appealing. Though by the cover and title it can be guessed that the book is about a soldier…but basically it is more about his past life and friends.

The book begins with the soldier’s life portraying his living during his vacation and his visit to his friend Shradha. Author has introduced the characters very interestingly and slowly–revealing about their role. When  he gets back to army quarters due to emergency cancelation of his vacation, thrill begins to sneak in. During their secret mission Sam is injured badly, while Arpan and Doctor are also admitted in hospital. On doctor’s request Arpan is narrating his past with Sam and Shradha to doctor, telling him the reason behind Sam’s arrogant and introvert nature.

During this narration one can understand Arpan’s nature, who always kept quiet and mysterious about his feelings without letting anyone know about it.

On a primary note, the past story is all about teenage jealousy and teen love which is narrated in so much detail and philosophy that it is irritating.
In the end it is revealed that Arpan is the whole and sole reason for the problems and misunderstanding between Sam and Shradha. And to rectify that he sacrifices himself, which is quite filmy but little emotional. But his whole sacrifice thing feels sick since his whole life Arpan has ditched Sam and in the end he is sacrificing himself to save Sam.
3 stars out of 5 from my side.

Overall story gives you goosebumps at times, poems are beautiful but more than required and has poor editing. Besides this book is a good read.
