Dr. Jas Kohli started his training in Plastic Surgery twenty years back. Along with his interest in writing, he’s also interested in astronomy, music and bird-watching. Through his writings, he aims to foster a stronger doctor-patient bond.
When the superstar diva of the past decade doesn’t want to play the hero’s mother on screen, she insists that she be reshaped into the most beautiful woman in the world…by any means. This is just one of the many odd situations which plastic surgeon Dr. Dhruv faces in Mumbai. He has dealt with tyrannical bosses and finicky patients while undergoing his training, during which he has also won over a stunning doctor as his life partner. But satisfying the movie stars is a different ball game, because every girl wishes to have bee-stung lips, and every guy wants to flaunt a six-pack abdomen without working too hard. And all this while, he has to resist losing his balance over his ravishing female clients. Dr. Dhruv’s journey surpasses even a masala movie for humour, drama and action. In debunking many a myth about cosmetic surgeries, the book will enthrall those who can do Anything to Look Hot.
Anything to Look Hot reveals a lot of secrets of the celebrities’ never aging beauty, which as a common man we have always been eager to know. Surgeries for lip refinement, erasing dark circles, reducing or nullifying wrinkles, breast enhancement, lightening of the skin tone, removing extra body fat and various other kinds of amends done to the human body are described in the book. The number of times the celebs visit the clinic for seeking advice on issues relating to the body and for regular check-ups is higher than what we can think of.
There are certain doctor terms used in the book where it was necessary. It may not be of a special interest to the individual who is not very inclined towards either of the two – surgeries or celebrities.
As an individual, I think that if the color that is used on the cover was different, it would have made the book more attractive. But it does suit the book in a way.
As described, stars can do Anything to Look Hot and so the title seems fit.
The editing of the book contains no errors, no mistakes so it keeps the reader gripped.
The very first chapter and the first few lines had caught hold of me already –
“ The eye of a falcon, the courage of a tiger, the composure of a monk, the versatility of a decathlete, the concentration of a marksman, the endurance of a mountaineer and hands as deft as a lady’s – these are the attributes of a good surgeon.”
